About Signed By Gents
- Why choose a qualified signwriter for a vehicle wrap?
At Signed By Gents, we are fully qualified, trade-certified signwriters with over 40 years of combined local experience. Vehicle wrapping requires deep knowledge of surface preparation, material behaviour, and precise graphic alignment. Our professional qualification means you get immaculate finishes, zero blade marks on your paintwork, and wraps engineered to withstand the elements. - What vehicle wrap services do you offer?
We primarily focus on premium custom colour changes to completely transform the aesthetic of your ride. However, our signwriting background makes us highly sought after for commercial wraps and fleet signage. Whether you want a full stealth matte transformation or clean, high-impact business branding, we handle it all.
Vinyl & Ceramic Coatings
- What brands of vinyl do you use?
We choose only premium, industry-leading films that perform well in the harsh North Queensland climate. We recommend and regularly use 3M, Avery Dennison, and Hexis. That said, we are entirely flexible—if you have a specific luxury or specialty vinyl brand in mind for your project, we are more than happy to source and install it to your preference. - Can I get a ceramic coating over my new vinyl wrap?
Yes! We highly recommend adding a ceramic coating to protect your investment. We offer premium Gtechniq HALOv2 Flexible Film Coating, which is specifically engineered for vinyl wraps. It chemically bonds to the vinyl, adding intense dirt repellence, making maintenance much easier, and adding a vital barrier against UV rays and staining.
Paint & Preparation
- Will a vinyl wrap damage my car’s paint?
No. If your vehicle has factory-quality paint in good condition, the vinyl will actually act as a protective barrier against minor stone chips and UV damage. It will not damage healthy OEM paint during application or professional removal. - What happens if my car has existing paint chips, scratches, or clear coat peeling?
Vinyl is incredibly thin and conforms to the surface underneath. It will not hide physical imperfections like deep scratches, rust, or peeling clear coat—in fact, it can make them more visible. For the best finish, any paint damage should be repaired and fully cured before wrapping.
Longevity & Climate Focus
- How long will a wrap last in Townsville's tropical heat?
Premium films like 3M and Avery offer a vertical life expectancy of up to 3 to 5 years. However, because Townsville experiences extreme UV radiation and intense heat, horizontal surfaces (like the bonnet and roof) absorb the most sun damage. On these horizontal areas, vinyl typically lasts closer to 2 to 3 years before showing wear. Adding a Gtechniq HALOv2 coating drastically assists in fighting off this UV degradation. - How do I maintain my wrap and protect it from tropical elements?
Hand washing with a pH-neutral automotive shampoo is vital. Never take your wrapped vehicle through a mechanical brush car wash. Because of Townsville's heat, things like acidic bird droppings, bat droppings, and tropical bug splatters can bake into the vinyl quickly and cause permanent staining. We recommend spot-cleaning contaminants immediately with warm soapy water. - How do I clean off tropical bugs, bird droppings, and tree sap?
Clean these off as quickly as possible. Townsville’s intense heat can bake acidic bird droppings or bug splatters into the vinyl, permanently staining it. Soak the spot with warm, soapy water to soften the debris, then gently wipe it away.
Cost & Options
- How much does it cost to wrap a vehicle in Townsville?
Pricing depends entirely on the size of the vehicle, the type of vinyl, and the complexity of the install. As a general guide: - Partial wraps/accents (roof, bonnet, chrome delete): $600 – $1,200+
- Compact cars & hatchbacks: $4000 – $5,000+
- Sedans & SUVs: $5,000 – $6,000+
- Dual-cab utes, 4WDs, & large vans: $5,500 – $6,500+
- Can I get a partial wrap instead of a full colour change?
Yes. We offer partial wraps, which are highly popular for business advertising on dual-cab utes and vans. We can also wrap specific sections like the bonnet, roof, or mirrors for a custom aesthetic.
